Why does the food industry need a specialised ERP?
Because of legal traceability requirements under Swiss food law and the demands of shelf life management. A system without continuous batch tracking cannot prove which stock is affected in a recall, and allergens and nutritional values then need separate manual upkeep.
What does batch traceability mean in practice?
For every finished product it must be traceable which raw material batches went into it, and conversely which products a given raw material batch ended up in. This applies forward to the customer as well as backward to the supplier.
